Mr Simon Bridle

MB ChB FRCS (Orth)

Simon Bridle was appointed as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at St. George’s Hospital in 1995 and undertakes private practice.  St. George’s is a Teaching Hospital, the major acute hospital for South West London and has been designated as a Major Trauma Centre.  He was leader of the orthopaedic group between 2004 and 2008 and has been Clinical Director for Surgery since March 2008.

His surgical practice includes lower limb joint replacement and knee arthroscopy and he continues to contribute actively to the trauma rota.  He focuses on primary hip and knee replacement and revision hip surgery and has a particular interest in complex acetabular revisions and revision for infection.   He has been the team doctor at Richmond Rugby Club since the professional era.

He lectures on hip surgery in the UK and abroad and, with a colleague, runs the annual St. George’s Revision Hip Forum; a highly successful meeting aimed at  established hip surgeons.

He qualified from Charing Cross Hospital Medical School in 1981 and did his Basic Surgical Training in London, before completing his orthopaedic training on the St. Mary’s Rotation and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, along with a Fellowship in Joint Replacement in Adelaide, South Australia.
